No, they dont get an elite hoplite, only nubian spears (kills cav like a charm, good on defence and vs skirms) and thureos, both versatile but not outstanding. They get royal pelasts, but again, not as good as galatians.
Thorax are good mid-game, but the royal thorax looses to the galatians(elite). The egyptians made extensive use of galatian mercenaries, and caesar ever gifted 300 to cleopatra at one point. Galatians are very good, especially the elite ones, the others are too lightly armored for my taste, but kills lower tier units easy.
